Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba Bags National Honours

The Executive Secretary of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP), Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba has been conferred with the Nigerian National Honours award of the Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) by the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
 
The award is in recognition of her service to the country and her tireless efforts in the anti-human trafficking Agency as well as bringing international recognition to the work of NAPTIP. Mrs. Jedy-Agba has recorded significant success in bringing justice to victims of trafficking in persons, through the conviction of various human trafficking offenders and her continued re-integration of victims of human trafficking.
 
In his speech, the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan stated that he was delighted at the caliber of awardees nominated by the award committee for various categories of award. He said they are men and women of integrity, identified for their various duties, diligence, and contributions of refocusing society in the right direction.
 
Speaking further, he said the award encapsulates great characters from all works of life who have greatly demonstrated their faith in the development of Nigeria. He however, urged the recipients to continue to live exemplary lifestyles as the honour bestowed on them comes with additional responsibility to their portfolio.
 
In her response, the Executive Secretary, NAPTIP, Mrs. Jedy-Agba said she was humbled by the recognition and honour bestowed on her. She said the award will further spur her to do more, as well as redouble her commitment to serve the nation.
 
Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba is amongst the three hundred and thirteen prominent Nigerians and friends of Nigeria who were honoured with the Nigerian National honours Award at the International conference centre, Abuja, for their various outstanding contributions and service to Nigeria.
 
It will be recalled that Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-agba was appointed Executive Secretary of NAPTIP in 2011 and her tenure has recorded a total of over 46 convictions out of the 220 convictions recorded since inception of the Agency.
