NAPTIP Train officers on General Law Enforcement/Intelligence

The National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and Other Related Matters NAPTIP, has commenced a General Law Enforcement/intelligence training for two hundred of its staff pooled from all the zones and headquarters

The training which is in line with the Executive Secretary’s new vision is in conjunction with The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency Regional Academy for Drug Control (NDLEA, RADC), Katon Rikkos, Jos and the Department of State Service office in Lagos.

Aimed at piloting NAPTIP into a more professional law enforcement agency with high standard, the training is to commence on the 21th of January. It will also improve the human resource capacity, and mould the character of every staff to fit into what is expected of staff of a law enforcement agency such as NAPTIP.

Two beneficiaries of this training, who are also staff of NAPTIP, have expressed appreciation of the efforts of the Executive Secretary. They admit the benefits to them, which range from physical fitness, mental alertness, and exposure to several new techniques, which will enable them, tackle the crime of human trafficking more effectively. 

The NAPTIP Boss stated that the objective of this training is to introduce staff to operational ethics and techniques involved in effectively tackling the crime of human trafficking. Some of the course contents which the trainees will be exposed to include the following:


(1.) General Intelligence Gathering/Technique Source and Agent, Source and Agent Protection,
(2.)   Report writing/techniques/categories,
(3.) General ethics/code of conduct for law enforcement/intelligence officers,
(4.) Leadership and delegation, offence against discipline (under NAPTIP code of conduct),
(5.) Guidelines (arrest, detention, searches, seizures, and raids)
(6.)  Review of Naptip Act and its penal code
At the end of the training, staff will be expected to fully grapple with emerging trends on the issue of TIP.
