UNITED STATE GOVERNMENT DONATES EQUIPMENT TO NAPTIP
The Assistant Secretary of The United States Department of States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, William Brownfield has donated equipments to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP).
The Executive Secretary of NAPTIP Mrs. B. Jedy-Agba while receiving the United States delegates in her office on Friday July 22nd 2012, stated that the United States Government has been in the forefront for strong condemnation of the obnoxious trade in human beings.
The NAPTIP boss stated that this donation of investigation equipment which is complementary to earlier efforts made by the U.S government is a demonstration of the continued commitment of the government of the United States to add impetus to the fight against trafficking in persons in Nigeria.
The Assistant Secretary in his response condemned the crime of human trafficking as repugnant, repulsive and the 21st century equivalent of human slavery. He further stated that Nigeria and in deed the Nigerian people are very fortunate to have NAPTIP and Mrs. B. Jedy-Agba to manage and accomplish this task. He said that the United States is particularly happy to donate the equipments which comprised of computers, projectors, digital cameras and most importantly hand cuffs which will be used in capturing the culprits of this crime.
He also said that if NAPTIP is successful in the fight against human trafficking, Nigeria, the United States and the entire world will be a better place.
The Executive Secretary expressed her profound gratitude to the government of the United State of America for its continued support to (NAPTIP) and promised to Utilize the donated equipment to enhance Intelligence gathering and investigation by the Agency.
