Human Trafficking: Tony Elumelu’s Foundation To Partner NAPTIP

Mr Tony Elumelu, Chairman of UBA Plc and Heirs Holdings today in Lagos signed on as a partner of NAPTIP in the fight against human trafficking. It was during an advocacy visit to him by the Director-General, Julie Okah-Donli and a team from the Agency.
 
The Business mogul, entrepreneur and philanthropist expressed disgust at the dehumanizing effects of human trafficking on its victims and the country, He called on Government to increase efforts in tackling the menace. He also enjoined the Organised Private Sector (OPS) to join in the fight against TIP as he has just done, describing it as a worthy course, the success of which would translate to a liberated Nigeria.He pledged to support the activities of the Agency and the DG whom he described as the best person for the job, whose commitment and passion would serve as a driving force in achieving the mandate of the Agency.
 
He also commended her for being pro-active in sourcing for private sector involvement in the anti human trafficking course. The DG had earlier commended Mr Elumelu for all his philanthropic activities and raising a crop of young African Entrepreneurs. She urged Mr Elumelu to work with the Agency to reduce vulnerability of Nigerians to Trafficking. She also urged him to help galvanize the support of other OPS leaders to join NAPTIP in the fight against human trafficking. During the visit, the DG also interacted with the United Nations Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator, Edward Kallon, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Director, Samuel Bwalya and the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington who were also guests of Mr. Elumelu.
