The Anambra State Task Force on Human Trafficking was inaugurated by the Executive Governor of the State, Chief Willie Obiano who was ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government Prof Solo Chukwulobelu at the Government House in Awka the State Capital.
While delivering her speech, the Director-General NAPTIP Dame Julie Okah-Donli thanked the Anambra State Government for her efforts aimed at fighting Human Trafficking, irregular migration, Sexual and Gender Based Violence.
The Director General further gave an overview of NAPTIP. She explained how the Agency is the Federal Government’s response to the fight against this deadly menace. She also spoke on the Agency’s drive towards fighting Human Trafficking, Sexual and Gender Based Violence.
The Director General prayed for support from the State Government in providing an office and Shelter that will serve as the Anambra State office of the Agency. She also said Officers of the Agency will be deployed to resume work effectively in other to give a boost to the task force.
The Director General ended by expressing her profound gratitude to His Excellency for the warm reception and hospitality extended to her and her team.
She also thanked the UK Home Office and the International Organization for Migration for sponsoring this project.
In his response, the Secretary to the State Government thanked the DG for showing so much zeal in ensuring that Human Trafficking is stamped out of the State and Nigeria as a whole.
He assured the Director General of the State Government’s full support in this fight and assured the DG that NAPTIP will get every necessary support in ensuring the Task Force succeeds.
