The Director-General of the National Agency for the prohibition of trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Imaan Sulaiman –Ibrahim earlier today received a delegation from the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Program RoLAC.
The main purpose of the courtesy visit was to familiarize the RoLAC team to the new Director-General and also renew its’ support and commitment to the Agency in the fight against Sexual and Gender Based Violence while also supporting victims of SGBV.
The team lead of RoLAC, Mrs. Priscilla Ankut also congratulated the Director General on her appointment and prayed for the DG to use her goodwill in the political space to continue to put the issues of SGBV at the fore front. She also requested for a linkage between NAPTIP and other Agencies through the Hi-Level Multi-Agency Taskforce to create a better synergy in data sharing and data collection. Furthermore, Mrs. Ankut prayed for the establishment of more Sexual Referral Assault Centers to be established in the nation.
The Director-General, commended the work done by RoLAC so far and encouraged them to keep up the good work. She stated that SGBV should have a grassroots approach and ensured the sexual offenders register will be accepted by all States of the federation, as the advocacy against SGBV must involve all at the State level. She encouraged RoLAC to continue to work with other service providers to ensure a seamless fight against this menace.
