NAPTIPs’ anti-human trafficking advocacy train continued on Friday 25th September, 2020 with the inauguration of the Ebonyi State Task Force on Human Trafficking. The Task Force was inaugurated by His Excellency the Executive Governor of the State Chief Engr David Umahi who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Dr. Kelechi Igwe. PhD.
The Director General Dame Julie Okah-Donli in her speech, thanked the Ebonyi State Governor for the warm reception given to her and her team while congratulating His Excellency on the developmental projects currently ongoing in the State.
The Director General gave His Excellency an overview of NAPTIP, the Agency’s mode of operation as regards Human Trafficking, Sexual and Gender Based Violence as well as irregular migration. She further explained how NAPTIP is working sedulously to ensure that Ebonyi becomes a Human Trafficking free state.
The Director General thanked the State Government for always supporting the Agency and prayed for a donation of operational vehicles and an ambulance to enable the Agency perform its duty better. She also requested for an office to be donated to NAPTIP that will serve as a State Command.
She thanked the International Organization for Migration and the UK Home office for sponsoring the project.
The representative of the I.O.M Chief of Mission, Miss Ruth Mbugwa also thanked the State for receiving her and the NAPTIP team. She pledged that I.O.M will continue to support the Agency and the State Government.
In his response, the Deputy Governor praised the Director General for her love for humanity as it had become evident in her daily war waged against Human Trafficking and the traffickers. He promised that the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency will continue to ensure that NAPTIP is fully supported to enable the Agency carry out its duties.
A technical session followed immediately after the inauguration with members of the Task Force chaired by the Honorable Attorney General present.
