FIDA To Join NAPTIP In The Fight Against Human Trafficking

The Executive Secretary of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP) Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba, has expressed the Agency’s willingness to work and partner with the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in combating the scourge of human Trafficking.
Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba made this statement in Abuja when the FIDA delegation led by Mrs. Amina Agbaje paid an advocacy visit to the agency, pledging to partner and support NAPTIP in the fight against trafficking in persons, as well as provide legal aid and protection of rights of trafficked women and children.
Noting the high incidences of trafficking in persons, both locally and internationally, the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba, reiterated the need for both organizations to work closely in combating the trend especially as it relates to women and children in the society.
The FIDA chairperson, pledged her organization’s human resource and support to NAPTIP as it concerns trafficked women, children and the vulnerable in the society.
She went further to highlight some of the achievements recorded by FIDA, which includes capacity building, mentoring programmes in schools, enhancing the status of women and children by providing legal aid and legal literacy through advocacy and law reforms.
In conclusion, the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba thanked FIDA for their gesture and initiative, and assured the delegates of NAPTIP’s willingness to work with it, since both organizations have similar mandates and share common interest.
